Nexus Global Payments

Business Development Executive

Application Closes 31 August 2026

Background

Nexus Global Payments (NGP) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, incorporated in Singapore in March 2025. NGP was established to own, maintain and manage the Nexus scheme – a multilateral initiative to enable instant, secure, and efficient cross-border payments by interconnecting Instant Payment Systems (IPS) worldwide. NGP is currently owned by central banks in participating countries (India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand). For more information about the company and the Nexus scheme, please visit our website at www.nexusglobalpayments.org.

This is an opportunity to join NGP at a formative stage as we build the world’s first multilateral network for instant cross-border payments. As we work towards go-live in late 2027, you will help shape how NGP engages with Instant Payment Service Operators, banks, financial institutions, technology partners, regulators and other ecosystem stakeholders across participating and prospective markets.

Position: Business Development Executive

The opportunity: We are looking for a commercially minded and relationship-driven Business Development Executive to support NGP’s market engagement, partnership development and ecosystem growth. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders to build awareness of the Nexus scheme, support prospective participant engagement and help turn strategic opportunities into practical next steps.

This role is well suited to someone with around five to ten years of front-line experience who enjoys working across business, technology, compliance, legal, risk and operations teams, and who is confident representing an organisation externally with banks, financial institutions and payment ecosystem participants.

Reporting line: Reports to the Chief Commercial & Partnerships Officer (CCPO) NGP.

Core responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the Business Development Executive are as follows:

  • Engage with Instant Payment Service Operators, banks, financial institutions, central banks, technology partners and other ecosystem participants to build awareness and support adoption of the Nexus scheme.
  • Identify and progress business development opportunities, maintaining a clear view of target institutions, engagement status, next steps, dependencies and key decision makers.
  • Build trusted relationships with external stakeholders and act as a responsive, professional point of contact for enquiries, follow-ups and agreed actions.
  • Work closely with product, technology, compliance, legal, risk, operations and finance colleagues to ensure stakeholder discussions are well coordinated and aligned with NGP’s operating model and scheme requirements.
  • Help communicate the Nexus value proposition, including cross-border instant payments, participant connectivity, FX considerations, settlement flows and operational benefits for banks and financial institutions.
  • Prepare briefing materials, presentations, discussion papers and follow-up notes for stakeholder meetings, workshops, industry engagements and bilateral discussions.
  • Support prospective participants through early engagement, information gathering, readiness discussions, onboarding planning and internal governance milestones.
  • Monitor developments in payments, FX, banking, fintech and regional payment infrastructure, and translate relevant insights into practical recommendations for NGP’s engagement strategy.
  • Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions, actions, risks and decisions, and support management reporting on business development progress.
  • Represent NGP professionally in external forums, conferences and working sessions, ensuring consistent messaging and a high-quality stakeholder experience.

Essential Qualifications and experience

  • A degree in business, finance, economics, technology, international relations or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5-10 years of front-line experience in business development, relationship management, partnerships, sales, product or market engagement, ideally within payments, banking, fintech, financial infrastructure or regulated financial services.
  • Experience working with banks, financial institutions, payment service providers, Instant Payment Service Operators or similar ecosystem participants would be highly regarded.
  • A good understanding of payments, cross-border payment flows, correspondent banking, FX or settlement concepts; direct payments and FX experience would be a strong advantage.
  • The ability to work confidently with stakeholders across business, technology, compliance, legal, risk, operations and senior management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear briefing materials, presentations, meeting notes and stakeholder updates.
  • A commercial mindset, strong organisational skills and the ability to move opportunities forward from initial engagement through to agreed next steps.
  • Comfort working in a start-up or venture-building environment, where priorities may evolve and structure is still being built.
  • Professional presence, good judgment and the confidence to represent the organisation externally.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; additional regional languages would be an advantage.

What will help you succeed

You are likely to thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy building trusted relationships with senior and working-level stakeholders across complex institutions.

  • Can explain business, technical, operational and compliance topics clearly and practically.

You will also bring:

  • Strong follow-through and the ability to keep discussions, actions and priorities moving.
  • The ability to coordinate across multiple teams and influence without direct authority.
  • Confidence managing multiple concurrent conversations, deadlines and dependencies.
